As the March 8, 2025, deadline for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration nears, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned prospective candidates to avoid last-minute registration, stressing that there will be no deadline extension.
The examination body, in a statement released on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, emphasized the importance of early registration, noting that delays often lead to avoidable challenges such as network congestion, incomplete applications, and payment issues.
“This notice is particularly important given the recent decline in the number of candidates registering for the examination,” the statement read. “We urge all individuals who wish to participate to register promptly and avoid waiting until the last minute.”
So far, over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered, aligning with JAMB’s projections for the 2025 examination cycle. However, the board expressed concerns that some applicants may still delay, leading to a rush in the final days.
JAMB also reiterated that the registration deadline is fixed due to the structured timeline of its activities, including examination scheduling, results processing, and admissions coordination with tertiary institutions and other agencies.
“Extending the registration period would disrupt not only the board’s plans but also those of our partners.” JAMB stated.
JAMB further urged all eligible candidates to complete their registration as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary difficulties.
