The Jigawa Police Command has cracked down on vandalism in the state, arresting six suspects in the Kazaure Local Government Area. According to SP Lawan Shiisu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, five of the suspects were arrested for vandalism, while the sixth suspect was apprehended for receiving stolen items .
The suspects, aged between 28 and 53, were arrested on February 26 and 28 for allegedly vandalizing streetlights, armoured cable wires, and high-tension wires in the Bandutsi, Faru, and Daba villages. During interrogation, the suspects identified Musa Yahaya, a 30-year-old from Kazaure town, as an accomplice and receiver of the stolen items.
The police spokesperson alleged that Yahaya was aware the cable wires belonged to the government and were stolen items. The suspects have since confessed to the crime and have been charged in court .
