Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region, stating that recent violent attacks are not farmer-herder clashes but the result of organised criminal activities by individuals determined to destabilise the state.
Speaking during a public event held in the state, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the current security challenges but expressed gratitude to attendees for standing in solidarity with Plateau during these difficult times.
The governor made these remarks on Friday night in Abuja during the Fashion and Arts Exhibition organised by Tincity Fashion Week, themed “The Plateau Experience.”
“We contemplated suspending this event due to the current security situation in the state, but we decided not to allow the situation ruin the good things we have to celebrate,” he said. “The aim of the enemy is to throw the state into gloom and mourning but we will rise above their intent and not give them what they want.”
The governor further urged the public to dismiss narratives framing the crisis as a farmer-herder conflict, insisting that it is instead being driven by “malicious elements” with no interest in peace.
“For those who think that the current situation is a farmer-herder issue, let me disabuse your mind from that perception; it is a product of organised crime,” he stressed.
Governor Mutfwang concluded with a message of hope and resilience, assuring citizens that “God will give us victory over these miscreants and their end has come.”
The governor’s statement comes amid heightened concern over security in parts of Plateau State, which has witnessed a resurgence of violence in recent weeks.
