Tragic incident in Jigawa State,son allegedly kills father

In a deeply unsettling event, a 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, is alleged to have fatally attacked his father, Salisu Abubakar, with a machete in the Bakin Kasuwa Quarters of Sara District, Gwaram Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

According to a statement from the Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. on Monday. 

The victim sustained severe injuries to his shoulder, neck, and chest and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kudu, where he was pronounced dead by the attending medical personnel.

The police promptly responded to the distress call, with the Divisional Police Officer of Sara and his patrol team arriving at the scene to evacuate the victim and recover the alleged murder weapon. The suspect, Muhammad Salisu, was apprehended at the scene, and the machete used in the attack was recovered as evidence.

The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, AT Abdullahi, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for a thorough investigation. 

He added that the motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

“Upon completion of investigation, the suspect would be arraigned in court to face the full weight of the law.

“The police command is determined to ensure justice is served in this heinous crime,” the commissioner stated .

The police  authority has  assured the public of a comprehensive and transparent investigation, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring that justice is served .
