The Federal Government has commenced payment of the new N70,000 minimum wage to over 1.2 million civil servants across all levels of the federal civil service.
The Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, signed a warrant directing the commencement of the new payment.
A breakdown of the new salary structure shows significant increases for civil servants across various grade levels:

The Organised Labour has called on private organisations to follow suit and commence payment of the new minimum wage.

However, some private sector operators have expressed concerns over the threat of imprisonment for non-compliance, citing economic challenges and potential business closures.
