The Ekimogun Roundtable, a socio-economic group of Ondo indigenes, has seeked a permanent solution from relevant federal agencies and the state government in addressing the devastating flooding in Ondo town.
They disclosed this in a statement released on Saturday, signed by its Acting Secretary, Christiana Ayodele.
According to the group, the flood is claiming lives and properties annually and leaving residents in constant fear.
The statement read, “The flooding, which started around Ife Road, Saluwa, Sabo, New Town, Itanla, Oke Odunwo, and Orimolade areas of the town, is now engulfing the entire Ondo City. It is no longer just a seasonal issue but a crisis that endangers our lives, disrupts education, threatens livelihoods, and leaves lasting scars on our people and the community.
“As a people and a community, we have done our best to address this situation, but we are now stretched beyond our limit,” said Christiana Ayodele, Acting Secretary of the group. “We demand action for the sake of our families, businesses, and future.”
