A devastating building collapse in Ibadan, Oyo State, has left 10 people dead and 7 others injured. The incident occurred at 2 am on Thursday in the Jegeda Oluloyo area of Ona Ara Local Government .
Rescue efforts are ongoing, with emergency responders working tirelessly to search for survivors. The Oyo State Fire Services Agency received the distress call at 2 am and immediately swung into action
“We received a distress call from the people in the neighborhood at 2 am. When we got there, ten people died outrightly. Three people had been recovered before we got to the place, and our men recovered four. They are still working,” said Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services .
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing condolences for the families of the victims. “It’s quite disheartening, 10 dead and 7 injured, what a horrible incident,” said one concerned citizen .
The cause of the building collapse is yet to be determined, but investigations are expected to commence soon.
