The woman, who is over 50 years old, narrated how she was duped of a huge sum of money by two Nigerian scammers she met on social media platforms. Despite her experiences, she expressed her admiration for Nigerian men, describing them as the “sexiest and most handsome men on this planet.”
“I still have love for the Nigerian people, the men are the sexiest and most handsome men on this planet,” said an unidentified American woman, who recently shared her heartbreaking experience with Nigerian internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys.”
According to her, she met the first scammer on TikTok in 2020 and was in a relationship with him for 10 months before she discovered his true identity and intentions. She displayed the scammer’s picture and the one he used for his unsuspecting victims, adding that she got to know about his real identity and his girlfriend after he mistakenly dialled her contact with his Nigerian line.
In a viral video, the woman shared her experiences, warning others about the dangers of online scams. Her story highlights the increasing concerns about internet fraud and the need for awareness and education to prevent such scams.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been working to combat internet fraud in Nigeria, securing 3175 convictions and recovering over N156 billion between May 2023 and May 2024.
