The Business and Professional Women (BPW) Nigeria has called on women leaders to adapt to new challenges and be innovative in their approaches to developing their businesses.
The National President of BPW, Barrister Ajoke Afolabi, made the disclosure at the 2024 National Conference.
She said the body will not relent in promoting women empowerment and sustainable development in the country.
According to her, the conference theme, “Thriving in a Changing World: Adapt, Innovate, and Lead,” highlights the importance of women leaders adapting to new challenges and leading with courage and conviction.
The 2024 National Conference of Business and Professional Women, Nigeria, kicked off on a high note virtually, celebrating a significant milestone in the organization’s history.
This year’s conference brought together women leaders from across the country to reflect on progress, challenges, and strategies for advancing women’s empowerment and sustainable development.
Barrister Afolabi paid tribute to the late Past National President, Mrs. Yetunde Oladeinde, whose legacy continues to inspire the organization’s mission.
Afolabi also congratulated several members on their achievements, including Mrs. Angela Ajala, who completed her tenure as National Coordinator of the Association of Nigeria Women Business Network, and Ms. Yinka Ajibola, who was elected chair of projects at the International Conference of the Business and Professional Women (BPW International).
She said the organization has been at the forefront of promoting women’s economic empowerment.
The Chairperson of Skills Care Development Organisation, Mrs. Angela Ajala, urged the members of BPW Nigeria to always embrace change with agility.
“Change is constant, but how we respond determines our success. We need to stay informed about developments in our sector and ensure that we dedicate time weekly to understand trends in the industry.”
She advised all participants to upskill and learn new innovations that will bring positive development to their businesses.
“You need to identify skills that will make you more relevant in your sector. As business and professional women, you need to embrace discomfort to actualize your goals and vision,” she said.
In the same vein, she disclosed that collaboration with individuals outside their circle of influence can bring effective results.
The National Vice President, Projects, for Business and Professional Women (BPW), Mrs. Chika Offor, noted that BPW Nigeria has been actively involved in supporting women’s empowerment, education, and healthcare initiatives.
According to Mrs. Offor, BPW Nigeria has supported the building of two primary schools and a health center, which were handed over to the government.
“The organization has also been involved in various community development projects, demonstrating its commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of women and girls.”
Mrs. Offor further noted that the body also supports its members in achieving major milestones.
“We support one another, we encourage women, we support women, we build each other up. We see a need and we do all it takes to make sure that we support that particular need and make sure that it is solved.”
