A wedding celebration in Jigawa State turned deadly after the bride allegedly poisoned food served at the reception, leaving one guest dead and the groom critically ill .The incident occurred in the Jahun Local Government Area of the state, with eyewitnesses suggesting that the bride’s actions may have been driven by a personal vendetta.
According to Shi’isu Adam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the police have arrested two suspects, including the bride and another female, in connection with the alleged food poisoning incident .The suspects are currently in custody and being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department.
Adam assured that the police will do everything in their power to ensure that justice is served. He also confirmed that all the wedding attendants who consumed the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, except for the one person who was confirmed dead.
“Justice will not be served until the truth is revealed, and in this case, the truth is what we’re committed to uncovering.” He stated
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and more details are expected to be released soon .The identities of the deceased, the groom, and other victims have not been disclosed by the authorities.
