Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has announced plan to unveil his preferred successor in January 2026.
He made this statement during the 11th Omituntun Ramadan lecture in Ibadan, expressing his intention to reveal the person’s identity as the 2026 political activities kick off.
The lecture, “Benefits of Being a Good Neighbour: An Islamic Perspective”, was presented by Yunus Teliat, the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoland.
“In January 2026, we know that political activities will start. I will tell you the picture of the person that will be installed there,” Makinde said.
In a lighthearted moment, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde jokingly asked popular socialite Abbas Oloko not to remove his billboard at Isale Alfa, saying “I’m not yet a lame duck. Please leave my billboard at Isale Alfa.”
Makinde expressed his gratitude to Muslim leaders for their support and encouraged them to continue praying for his administration. He also emphasized the importance of promoting peace and unity during Ramadan, regardless of religious differences, urging Muslims to use the season to foster harmony in society .
