The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has pledged the Defence Headquarters’ (DHQ) continuous support for the Special Operation Forces Training, while calling on the trainees to redouble their efforts.
This commitment was made during the opening ceremony of the training in Kaduna, where General Musa emphasized the importance of investing in the security and stability of Nigeria .
In a statement signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director Defence Information, on March 25, 2025 General Musa stated “this ceremony is not just for the training and equipping of our Special Operation Forces but also for investing in the security and stability of our great nation by fostering excellence, resilience, and adaptability in the face of evolving security challenges.” He also noted that the ceremony marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing national security.
General Musa highlighted the need for the armed forces to be well-trained, equipped, and capable of responding swiftly to security demands, given the evolving dynamics of modern warfare. He expressed optimism that the Special Operation Force will play a crucial role in the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s efforts to defeat terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats.
The CDS also thanked the Ministry of Defence for their efforts in ensuring the success of the event. Approximately 800 personnel from the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) are participating in the training, whom General Musa described as “Vanguards of a New chapter in our Defence narrative.”
In a related development, General Musa visited the site of the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, where he pledged enhanced security cover to enable the institution to meet its September 2025 takeoff deadline.
