The Conference of Patriotic Nigerians COPAN has described as living up to the expectations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who had earlier asked both substantive and state ministers in ministries to work together, take collective decision and be signatory to all project requests they will bring to the federal executive council for approval inorder to move the administration forward, by Minister of Works Engr Dave Umahi during his media scorecard briefing on his ministry requesting that his minister of state Bello Goronyo be given a day by the minister of information and national orientation to come and brief the press and nation is a demonstration of his living up to the task required of them by Mr President who appointed them.
Uchenna Odieli Coordinator of COPAN who has been a stakeholder in field of governance watch lauded Umahi’s brilliant submissions at the media scorecard briefing at the Radio house Abuja.
He appreciated Umahi’s submission that no nation develops without good roads,indigenous contractors needed to be encouraged but must have the capacity and competence according to Umahi Copan added.
He implored the Minister Umahi and his Minister of state from the Southeast and Northwest respectively to sustain their cooperation and relationship as it is yielding positive results and contributing to infrastructural facelift in tandem with the four legacy projects of the Tinubu renewed hope agenda.
The Northwest having the highest number of road projects signifies unity,oneness and acceptability against the mindset of critics.
FERMA according to Umahi supervised by Bello Muhammad Goronyo has recorded tremendous achievements on road rehabilitation across the country,therefore such landmark strides needed to be explained to Nigerians hence Umahi’s request on behalf of his minister of state. Copan lauded the works ministry press corp,the information management of the ministry and other team players but urged them to do more.
COPAN advocated for first ministry of works media dinner and excellence award night to further motivate media correspondents covering the ministry, information staff and interaction with some top members of the Nigeria Guild of editors and newspapers proprietor association of Nigeria,NUJ,Nawoj,Rattawu and BON, this could help propagate activities of the ministry in greater heights.
Copan commended Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR who gave the opportunity to his two ministers to be achieving this feat. Copan called on Umahi and Goronyo to also focus on northcentral roads like Sulaija Minna,Kainji Kaiama,kontagora Yawuri,Okene Akure,Kosubosu Kaiama,Kainji Mokwa,Makurdi Oturkpo as well as Minna Zungeru roads.
