Five Nigerians Arrested in Libya for Alleged Farm Equipment Theft

Libyan authorities have apprehended five Nigerian nationals in Sabha on charges of stealing electrical equipment from a local farm, as reported by Migrant Rescue Watch on May 26, 2025.

The arrests were executed by officers from the Al-Qahira Police Department on Sunday, May 25. The suspects have been transferred to the public prosecution for further legal proceedings.

Migrant Rescue Watch announced the incident via their official social media handle, stating
“Libya Al-Qahira Police Dept. (Sabha) arrested 5 migrants of Nigerian nationality for theft of electrical equipment from a farm. All referred to public prosecution for legal action…”

This incident adds to a series of recent arrests involving Nigerian nationals in Libya, highlighting ongoing concerns about migrant related crimes in the region.
