President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Edo state Governor, Monday Okpebholo on the affirmation of his election by the Supreme Court, urging him to accelerate the delivery of good governance and exceptional service to the people of the state.
In a statement signed on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Governor Okpebholo for the progress already made and encouraged him to be magnanimous in victory.
“Now that the legal hurdles have been cleared, it is time to focus fully on governing and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Edo State,” President Tinubu stated.
He also called on Governor Okpebholo to unite all Edo citizens, regardless of political affiliation, behind a common vision for the state’s development.
President Tinubu extended his congratulations to the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, urging them to maintain unity and demonstrate unwavering commitment to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to them by the electorate.
Governor Okpebholo was declared winner of the Edo State governorship election held in September 2024 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Supreme Court, on Thursday, upheld his victory, bringing an end to the legal challenges surrounding the election.
