President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s armed forces are making significant gains in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes across the country.
The President made this known in his Independence Day broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 65th anniversary on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
He assured Nigerians that the government remains committed to strengthening national security as part of its drive to boost economic growth and stability.
“The officers and men of our armed forces and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep us safe.
“They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes,” he said.
He highlighted ongoing successes against Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, IPOB/ESN activities in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping in the North-West, noting that peace has returned to hundreds of liberated communities.
“We see their victories in their blood and sweat to stamp out Boko Haram Terror in North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in South East and banditry and kidnapping,” Tinubu said.
Tinubu commended the courage and resilience of security operatives, saying their gallantry has allowed thousands of displaced persons to safely return to their homes.
“We must continue to celebrate their gallantry and salute their courage on behalf of a grateful nation,” he added.
