Afrobeats superstar Davido has tipped Asake, Omah Lay, and Rema as the leading contenders for the next “Greatest of All Time” title in the genre.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Carter Efe’s Twitch livestream on Wednesday night, Davido was asked who he believes could succeed him as the next GOAT. In response, the award-winning singer praised the trio for their remarkable impact and consistency.
“Right now, for me, I’d say it’s between Asake, Omah Lay, or Rema. If you ask me, I think they’ve done exceptionally well,” Davido said.
He also acknowledged the achievements of female artistes but clarified his focus on male acts. “Obviously, we have Tems, Ayra Starr and others, but I’m talking about the males. Those three are killing it,” he added.
Davido went on to highlight his personal relationships with the artistes and their growing global influence. “Omah Lay is my brother. I love Rema so much, and I have a lot of love for Asake as well. They’re all doing amazingly well, especially on the global stage. It’s incredible to be in America and see how far they’ve come. It’s not easy,” he said.
