President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will not relent in tackling insecurity across the country.
He made the assurance in his address to mark the third anniversary of his administration on Friday.
Tinubu said the Armed Forces and security agencies had intensified operations against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, oil thieves, and other criminal groups threatening peace across the country.
“Security remains central to our national mission and to the creation of a virile and prosperous society,” the President stated.
Tinubu said although security challenges persist in some parts of the country, progress is being recorded as many communities and highways are becoming safer and more economically active.
According to him, the government has continued investing in intelligence gathering, surveillance systems, logistics, technology, and inter-agency coordination to strengthen the country’s security architecture.
“We are improving the capabilities of our armed forces and security agencies, and reclaiming the authority of the Nigerian state wherever criminality threatens peace and order,” he said.
The President assured Nigerians that his administration remained committed to restoring peace nationwide and creating an environment where citizens can live and work without fear.
“I want to assure you that this government will not relent until every Nigerian can live, work, travel, and dream in safety,” Tinubu said.
He linked security improvements to national development, noting that economic growth and infrastructure expansion could only thrive in a peaceful environment.
Tinubu also appealed for national unity, warning against division along ethnic, regional, or religious lines, which he said could weaken the country’s collective progress.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us, no region, faith, or group should feel marginalised or forgotten,” he stated.
The President acknowledged the sacrifices Nigerians have made following recent economic reforms but urged citizens not to lose hope, insisting that the country was gradually overcoming its challenges.
“History tests nations before it elevates them,” Tinubu said. “But I believe with all my heart that we shall emerge stronger, fairer, more united, and more prosperous than ever before.”
He called on Nigerians, including members of the diaspora, to continue supporting the government’s efforts toward rebuilding the economy, strengthening democratic institutions, and securing the nation.
