The Oyo State Government has declared a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park as part of efforts to tackle rising insecurity and facilitate the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and teachers.
According to a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the curfew takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
The restriction, which will run from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily for an initial period of 48 hours, affects Oriire, Oorelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba local government areas.
The affected councils border the Old Oyo National Park, where security agencies are intensifying efforts to rescue 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers abducted on May 15.
