The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced a special passport intervention in the United Kingdom to address pending applications and facilitate new passport enrolments and renewals for Nigerians living in the country.
The exercise, directed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will see a dedicated Passport Intervention Team from the NIS Headquarters work with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
The team is expected to arrive in the UK on Monday, August 10, 2026, and will visit selected cities to process passport applications, allowing applicants outside London to access the service.
The intervention covers applicants with pending passport applications, those applying for passports for the first time, and holders whose passports have less than one year before expiry and wish to renew them.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
The NIS said the schedule indicating the cities, dates, venues and enrolment times would be released separately, warning applicants against visiting any location before the official announcement.
Nigerians in the UK were advised to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates on the exercise.
The Service added that its digital passport application platforms, including the Contactless Passport Application System, would remain available throughout the intervention, while home delivery services would also continue.
The NIS said the initiative was aimed at improving passport services and making access to documentation easier for Nigerians living abroad.
