The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, FCT Council, is mourning the death of its former Chairman, Comrade Patrick Osadebamwen.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the Council’s Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, said the news of his passing was received with sadness following confirmation from his friends.
“Comrade Osadebamwen served the union with commitment and dedication. His contributions to journalism in the FCT will not be forgotten.”
“The late journalist worked with The Union Newspaper, Core TV news, the Nigerian Tribune, and Kaftan TV before joining Interceptng.com, an online news platform.”
He also served as Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council during his career.
Osadebamwen hailed from Ekiadolor in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State. He is survived by three children.
The Council extended condolences to his family, colleagues, friends and associates.
“We pray that God will grant them the strength to bear this loss,” the statement said.
The NUJ FCT also called on members of the Union to “remember the family in their prayers and pray for the repose of his soul” as plans for burial arrangements are underway.
