Osun state government has announced the commencement of registration of people living with disabilities in the state in order to identify and provide necessary support for their needs.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Sunday, gave the order through his Special Adviser on Special Needs, Kamil Aransi, who said the initiative would help the government plan and cater for persons with disabilities.
Aransi said the exercise would commence today (Monday) and end on Friday, June 7, 2024 and would attract no payment from the registrants.
He said the initiative would “assist the government in knowing the precise number of people with special needs, especially in terms of wants and demands, such as physical, sensory, cognitive, and intellectual impairments.”
He further stated that the main purpose of the registration “is to be able to identify and provide necessary support for people with special needs and to create an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.”
