27 Farmers in killed by Gunmen in Plateau’s Riyom Community

In a devastating overnight assault, unidentified gunmen attacked Bindi-Jebbu in the Tahoss community of Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, killing at least 27 farmers, including women and children.

The assailants also set numerous homes ablaze, leaving several residents injured and hospitalized.

The National President of the Berom Youth Moulder-Association (BYM), Dalyop Solomon who confirmed the incident said: “We were sleeping at night when we suddenly heard gunshots. The attackers shot many people and also used machetes to kill others.”

The Plateau State Government has condemned the attack, with Commissioner for Information and Communication,
Joyce Ramnap, stating, “This senseless act of violence by yet to be identified gunmen is strongly condemned and unacceptable.”

As of now, security agencies, including Operation Safe Haven and the state police command, have yet to issue official statements regarding the incident.
