A Non-Governmental Organization, Shola Mese Foundation, has opened its skill acquisition centre in FCT to support vulnerable individuals.
The Foundation received praise and encomium from Delu Yakubu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
She commended Mese Foundation for coming up with laudable initiative that will uplift the plight of the vulnerable in the society.
The Senior Special Assistant who represented the President at the event, said the government alone cannot meet the need of the citizens.
“We cannot handle the humanitarian work alone, the almajiris, and the widow in the society. The issues are numerous, and we really appreciate what the Foundation is doing “, she said.
The Founder of Shola Mese Foundation, Dr Shola Mese said the skills acquisition centre will reduce crime rates and provide employment opportunities to the teeming population.
“Today marks a significant milestone for our country and vulnerable groups. With the federal government’s representative present, we are optimistic about the impact this will have. We believe it will reduce crime rates and provide essential humanitarian services.”
Dr Mese noted that the Foundation plan to
expand its reach to vulnerable groups in the northern region.
“Our goal is to cover every part of the country, making a meaningful impact on many lives as possible.
We don’t have a specific target number, as we rely on God’s guidance and provision. Our aim is to reach as many people as possible, without limiting our efforts. We will go as far as we can, trusting in God’s plans”, he said.
The Senior Program Officer OVC Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, Sefiya Sanni, said her organisation is set for collaboration that will improve the lives of vulnerable women and children.
” We are interested in what is going on in the foundation, because we know that through our partnership a lot of lives will be impacted.
“We will collaborate well to see how far it will go. This is a laudable activity, and we want government and private individuals to partner to do greater things”, she said.
The Prog Director of Sam Empowerment Foundation, Mrs Keima Ogunlana lauded Mese Foundation for the humanitarian work in improving the lives of the citizen.
“The skill acquisition is for individuals who are really needy in the society and need support. We commend the organization for the laudable work they are doing in the society”, she said.
