Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has called on the military to intensify efforts in eradicating the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents, particularly in the Lake Chad region. He made this appeal during the 2025 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Operation Desert Sanity 2 Medal Parade in N’Djamena, Chad.

Speaking at the event, Zulum acknowledged the significant progress made in reducing insurgency in Nigeria’s North East but stressed the need for continued vigilance and aggressive action against remaining threats.

As part of his commitment to supporting the military and honoring their sacrifices, Zulum announced a donation of N300 million to the “Tribute to Our Troops Charity Foundation,” an initiative established by the Chief of Defence Staff to assist families of soldiers who died or were injured in the line of duty.

The governor noted that Borno State, being the epicenter of the insurgency, bears a moral responsibility to contribute to the welfare of military families. He stated. “These brave men paid the ultimate price for our safety. Supporting their families is the least we can do to acknowledge their sacrifices. If any state should contribute to this foundation, it is Borno.

The donation underscores Zulum’s ongoing support for military efforts and his administration’s commitment to rebuilding communities affected by insurgency.
