The Federal Capital Territory police command have apprehended a group of armed robbers in Filin-Dabo village, FCT, despite their attempts to escape.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh stated this in a statement.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night, following a distress call at 11:50 PM reporting a violent robbery in the village .
The Gun battle between the police and the armed robbers left three robbers dead.
The police responded swiftly, with the Divisional Police Officer of Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division alerting the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and coordinating with operatives from the 102 Battalion, Guards Brigade, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local vigilante groups.
She disclosed that the gangs upon spotting the joint security team, the six-member gang attempted to flee.
“Upon spotting the joint security team, the six-member gang attempted to flee into nearby bushes, launching an ambush on the operatives.
“However, the security personnel responded with superior firepower, engaging the criminals in a fierce exchange. Despite their attempts to escape, the suspects were subdued.” She stated
Three of the suspects, who sustained various degrees of bullet wounds, were confirmed dead at the Kubwa General Hospital, while the other three sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention.
The police also recovered a cache of dangerous weapons, including One AK-47 rifle three magazines,nineteen live rounds of 7.62 ammunition ,two locally made pistols, two knives, one taser, one mobile phone, assorted charms and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
