As Nigerians celebrate Valentine’s Day, a blood donor is encouraging everyone to show love and kindness by donating their blood to save lives.
Precious Onyinka Awanye, a regular blood donor, shares his inspiring story of how he became a blood donor six years ago.
It all began on Valentine’s Day in 2019 when Awanye heard about a blood drive organized by Jela’s Clinic on WE FM in conjunction with the National Blood Transfusion Service (now National Blood Transfusion Commission).
He donated blood for the first time that day and has since become a regular donor, donating three to four times a year.
Reflecting on his journey, Awanye said
“I look back on these six years with gratitude, knowing that someone somewhere is alive today partly because I donated blood for them. It’s a wonderful experience, and one can only be grateful for this.”
Awanye’s story is a testament to the impact one person can have on someone’s life.
He encourages everyone to become voluntary blood donors, regardless of their location.
