The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has raised concerns over the rising cases of online scams targeting students seeking financial aid, warning against fraudulent websites falsely claiming to be the official student loan registration portal.
According to Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, cybercriminals have been spreading misleading messages online, tricking students into submitting personal details through fake links.
She emphasized that the only official platform for student loan applications remains www.nelf.gov.ng.
“We categorically disassociate NELFUND from these false information and urge students to be cautious of such scams.” She stated, “Students and the general public should disregard any unauthorized links or messages requesting personal information or promising loan disbursement outside the official NELFUND platform,” she said.
The organization has advised students to ignore any unofficial messages or links and instead rely on updates from NELFUND’s official website and social media pages to avoid falling victim to scams.
