In a bid to tackle the scourge of malaria, the Geneith Health Competition has been launched, targeting students in secondary and tertiary institutions across the country in Nigeria.
The Initiator of Geneith Health Competition, Prince Cletus Ilebanofor, said the competition is aimed at educating and empowering young minds on the prevention and treatment of malaria.
According to Ilebanofor, the competition will provide an avenue where students can focus on their studies without the burden of malaria when they have the right information.
“We are imagining a Nigeria where malaria is a thing of the past. That’s the vision behind the Geneith Health Competition. With a grand prize of N400 million and scholarships worth N600 million up for grabs, students are encouraged to participate in an online quiz that will test their knowledge on malaria.”
He added that the competition will also include health workshops across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, where students will learn about malaria prevention and treatment.
“The initiative is designed to create awareness and promote healthy practices among young people. The competition is open to students in secondary and tertiary institutions, who will participate in an online quiz that will whittle down the numbers to the top contestants.”
“The state competition will then hold physically, with the Commissioner for Health, Education, and other stakeholders in attendance to ensure transparency.”
In the same vein, he noted that the Geneith Health Competition is not just about winning prizes; it’s about creating a generation that is knowledgeable about malaria and equipped to prevent it.
The Initiator of the Geneith Health Competition also expressed his enthusiasm and readiness to work with health journalists in Nigeria in the fight against malaria.
“We want to work with you to ensure that the momentum and stories continue to flow. The initiative has the potential to make a significant impact on the fight against malaria, and it’s exciting to see young people taking the lead.”
“The registration process is already underway, students are encouraged to participate and win big. The Geneith Health Competition is a game-changer in the fight against malaria,” he said.
