MultiChoice Offers Financial Relief with 50% Decoder Price Cut

In a bold move to ease financial pressures on Nigerian households, MultiChoice Nigeria has offered financial relief to its customer with the reduction of DStv decoder by 50%, from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000.

The pay-TV giant unveiled the offer as part of its new “We Got You” campaign, aimed at delivering everyday entertainment value while supporting customers during a time of economic uncertainty. 

It From June 16 to July 31, 2025, subscribers who pay for their current DStv package in full will also be rewarded with a free upgrade to the next subscription tier.

John Ugbe, CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, said the initiative was more than just a promotion, it was a deliberate step to cushion the impact of recent price hikes and reconnect with customers amid dwindling numbers.

“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day,” Ugbe said in a company statement.

Beyond football, MultiChoice is repositioning DStv as a platform for everyday entertainment, promising increased access to movies, children’s programming, drama, and news. 

The move follows the company’s loss of over 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025, a period marked by three price hikes on both DStv and GOtv services, the most recent being in May 2024.
