The ongoing rift between former President Donald Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk has intensified, with Trump suggesting the possibility of deporting Musk following the latter’s sharp criticism of Trump’s proposed “One Big Beautiful Bill” spending package.
During a recent press interaction, Trump was questioned about Musk’s naturalized U.S. citizenship and his opposition to the bill. In response, Trump remarked,
“I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look,” implying potential repercussions for Musk’s dissent
Further escalating the situation, Trump referenced the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk previously led, stating, “We might have to put Doge on Elon,” a veiled threat suggesting scrutiny or action against Musk .
Musk, who had been a significant supporter of Trump’s 2024 campaign and served as an unpaid adviser, has recently become a vocal critic of the administration’s fiscal policies.
He labeled the spending bill a “disgusting abomination” and warned that it would “massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion”
The feud has drawn attention from various political figures. Senator Elizabeth Warren expressed agreement with Musk’s concerns, while others within the Republican Party have shown unease over the Bill’s implications.
