NELFUND Clears Backlog as Over 3,600 Students Receive Delayed Upkeep Payments
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has resumed disbursement of long-awaited upkeep allowances, resolving months of frustration caused by technical issues tied to digital-only banking platforms.
The breakthrough was announced in Abuja on Friday by the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, who revealed that over 3,600 students have now received their backlog of upkeep payments after successfully updating their bank details on the NELFUND portal.
“The affected students, who had initially registered with digital wallets, are now being paid through conventional commercial bank accounts,” Oluwatuyi stated.
She applauded students for their patience and resilience during the period of delay, noting that their cooperation was instrumental in achieving the resolution.
For students yet to receive their allowances, NELFUND advised them to raise a support ticket via the official portal to update their bank information. Additionally, institutions have been directed to channel unresolved cases through their IT departments for further attention.
“No eligible student will be left behind,” Oluwatuyi assured. “This effort reflects our commitment to transparent, efficient, and student-focused service delivery.”
She further urged students to engage only with official NELFUND channels and help peers who may be struggling with the update process.
