The Nigeria Police Force has said it will not disclose information about the recent US airstrikes against ISIS in Sokoto. According to the force, it has information about the operation but declined to release details to the public.
Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin told Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.
“We engage a lot in intelligence gathering, not just intelligence sharing. As the Police Force, we know certain things about the strikes, but we don’t want to talk about them. We decline to talk about that particular operation.”
The US conducted the strikes on December 25, 2025, killing “multiple ISIS terrorists,” according to the Department of Defense. The operation was carried out at the request of the Nigerian government.
The strikes came after comments by former US President Donald Trump over the killing of Christians in Nigeria, which led him to designate the country as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
Hundeyin added, “There was a cooperation, but we would rather leave it as a defence matter that the defence would talk about.” The operation highlights ongoing international efforts to combat ISIS-affiliated groups in Nigeria’s northwest region.
