President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, mother of former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
Dame Amaechi died at the age of 89.
In a condolence message issued on Friday, President Tinubu described the late matriarch as a devoted Catholic whose life was defined by faith, family values, sacrifice, and selfless service.
The President said Dame Amaechi’s commitment to raising children who contributed meaningfully to society reflected her enduring legacy of love, kindness, humility, and perseverance.
He urged the Amaechi family to find comfort in the values she upheld throughout her lifetime and the impact she made on her family, the Catholic Church, and society.
“My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity,” the President said.
He added, “May Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing at this difficult time.”
