Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has nominated Dr. Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola as the Acting State Auditor-General, with the appointment awaiting confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The nomination, which takes effect from July 28, 2026, was communicated in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service.
Until her nomination, Tayo-Makanjuola headed the Government Accounts Directorate, where she played a key role in public financial administration and accountability.
An accounting and financial management professional, she holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in International Business from Lagos State University, an MBA in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, and Higher National Diploma and National Diploma in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. She also obtained an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos.
She is a fellow and member of several professional organisations, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD), and Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (CFIP-USA).
The Office of the State Auditor-General expressed confidence in her ability to lead the institution, saying her experience and professional background would strengthen accountability, transparency and effective public sector auditing in Lagos State.
The office also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the nomination, describing it as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to good governance and sound management of public finances.
