Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, recently shared her remarkable journey of resilience and self-discovery following the end of her marriage to actor Adeniyi Johnson in an exclusive interview with BBC News Yoruba.
In a candid conversation, Toyin Abraham reflected on her challenging period, recounting how she found solace in her faith, despite facing unexpected difficulties.
Born into a devout Christian home, the ‘Ijakumo’ actress discussed how her faith served as a guiding light during her tumultuous times. She expressed how she was initially led astray by negative influences, particularly a close female friend who introduced her to drugs, believing it would help alleviate her pain.
Toyin Abraham’s unwavering faith and determination eventually led her to seek help and make significant changes in her life. She made the conscious decision to distance herself from detrimental friendships and focus on her well-being.
Speaking about her journey, Toyin Abraham stated, “I didn’t plan for a broken marriage, but when it happened, I was emotionally carried away. Those things were empowering my negative energy. Sometimes even when I do some positive things, it would just end up being negative. So I had to stop. Then I sought help, and I also changed some friends and people around me. I tried to be positive and had to deal with depression and drugs.”
