The Berger command of the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services was full of intellectual disposition, as Comrade Salihu Dantata Mahmud, a Security Analyst and former personal assistant to the interior Minister offered lectures to some select volunteer traffic officers on courtesy, patience, tolerance and perseverance.
The Area Commander In charge of the command, at whose instance the interaction took place, Mr Amos Yakubu, emphasised that it became necessary as a result of the accumulating and increasing report.
“He has been getting some reports regarding the poor attitude of some of the volunteers, whose discretion to operational duties are lacking and is causing a bad image for the directorate hence the short lecture”, he said.
Comrade Salihu charged the participants on zero tolerance for corruption, respect for people in their discharge of duty as well as adherence to rules of engagements.
He reiterated the esteemness of the DRTS, as the lead uniform agency in FCT and called for sustainability of the credibility.
He also implored the new FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to absorb most of the volunteers as a mark of recognition for the various services rendered.
He commended the DRTS Director, Dr Abdul Lateef Bello, for his laudable reform of the directorate and advocated for increased funding for the fct DRTS from the Minister to meet up challenges.
Salihu Lauded the Berger area commander for taking bold steps to ease traffic at the bridge, eradicate illegal parking and enhance traffic control.
He concluded by saying operational logistics should be provided for the command.
