As the jostle for Senate Presidency progresses,a former special Assistant to AKPABIO as Niger Delta Minister, Hon.Bashir Muhammed Dala has strongly advised the entire Senators elect not to waste their votes to Sen. AKPABIO because he lacks integrity,honour and deceptive.
According to the former national coordinator of the Apc aspirants forum, Akpabio, hardly lives to his words as when given such position, he can betray and disappoint the senators.
Take for instance the senate forensic audit investigation of the NNDC,AKPABIO as the Niger Delta Minister lied that all the Senators were involved in the scandal which later came out to be false.
How then can such personality be trusted with the Senate Presidency. Only qualified Senators like the former two term governor of Zamfara state who was also chairman of Nigeria governors forum can successfully pilot the affairs of the Senate if the Senate must be stabilised.
Senator AbdulAziz Yari was also a former member of the house of representatives. When we take the past words of Akpabio,then the senators elect must be careful.
Consistency,perseverance and holding on to words are what makes a true leader. I am humbly appealing to our esteemed Senators elect to rescind whatever decision they might taken to support AKPABIO. Their worst sojourn into the upper chamber will be supporting and electing AKPABIO as Senate President.
The election of Senator AbdulAziz Yari as Senate President could help stabilise the Senate,fight for their rights, build a stronger tie between the Senate and the Executive and as well make the governors work hand in hand with the Senate. His stewardship as chairman of Nigeria Governors forum made the Presidency to sit up and make submissions made by governors flow. Such an astute administrator knows the way and strategy to adopt inorder to move the Senate forward. Many Senators elect will agree with me that Senator Yari is a bridge builder whose political sagacity endeared him to many elderstatesmen irrespective of party,religion and tribe.
As a two term Governor, he made sure the Federal government deployed gallant troops of the Army, Police and other security agencies to carryout onslaught against armed bandits.
