Muntari Mohammed the chairman of the Abuja Scrap, environmental waste and scavengers association has described the fct commissioner of police CP Ajao Saka Adewale and his deputy commissioners of police as well as other officers and men as passionate cops who detests infringement on the fundamental human rights of suspects no matter their lower class in the society.

Muntari stated this after the intervention of the fct police high authorities saved the detention of some members of the association by one of the police task force while the suspects were sleeping. Disturbed by their arrest, the association chairman took the complaint to the command headquarters where it was look into and resolved amicably. This demonstrated the open door policy of the CP and his deputy commissioners of police and their citizen rights defence and protection initiative. It could be recalled that the CP at the point of resumption warned officers and men against brutality, illegal arrests, demand, negotiation and insistence which has made the command to be a corrupt free command. We are very grateful to the CP and promised to be law abiding and will regulate our members accordingly. We are a registered association and have taken steps to monitor, sensitize and enlighten members against theft, vandalisation of critical infrastructure and other acts inimical to the society. We shall also make our activities known to the police. Presently the Nigeria labour Congress is aware of the existence of our association and efforts are under way to get us affiliated. Similarly,we have written letter of introduction to the DSS headquarters in Aso drive in demonstration of our zeal to abide by provisions of the law.Similarly,we have severally communicated to the fct Minister and appealed for understanding as some bad eggs have made our activities to be under suspicion.
