The Chief Consultant Orthopaedics Surgeon of Alliance Hospital, Abuja, Dr Christopher Otabor has urged health Journalists to deviate from sensational stories but engage in writing human angle stories.
The Alliance Hospital boss stated this at an interactive session with the Association of Nigerian Health Journalists( ANHEJ) in Abuja.
He also urged health Journalists to engage in research will improve their knowledge in the area of health reportage.
Dr Otabor also encouraged the government to collaborate with private hospitals to ensure that the health of Nigerians is improved tremendously.
“The Ministry of Health should collaborate with academia, educational institutions and private hospitals to improve health care sector in the country. It is essential to Foster collaboration with different stakeholders to boost the healthcare sector in Nigeria”, he said.
The Alliance boss also expressed readiness to collaborate and partner with health Journalists to improve health care Management in Nigeria.
The Director of Operations Mr Sunday Ekpen, said health care tourism is a major issue.
“A good number of Nigerians travel on a major basis outside the shores of the country. We want to reverse health care tourism in the country and ensure that Nigerians have access to good health care irrespective of their status in the society”, he said.
