Grace Joseph
The Coordinator of the Arewa Renaissance Movement, Abbar Umar,
has implored the Kwara State Governor, His Excellency Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to wade into how disunity is cropping up in Shiya Community, after the contest for the stool of chief of Shiya created division, lost affection and lost unity of purpose in the community.
He added that it is very unfortunate that the chieftaincy tussle in Shiya has greatly divided the indigenes who hitherto lived as one.
“It could be recalled that some supported the most popular candidate who lost out, while few supported the installed candidate,a decision that did not go down well with many.”
From investigation carried out by our group, common purpose, collective meetings and cooperation is presently lacking in the community, and as well affecting both developmental and economic issues.
The group is hereby appealing to the Kwara State Governor to make his Commissioner for Local Government and chieftaincy affairs to constitute a committee to unravel the rationale behind this love lost after the chieftaincy battle that did not favour the choice of the majority.
” As 2027 election year approaches, the electoral value of Shiya cannot be underestimated in both Kwara and national politics hence our appeal.”
