The birthday of an achievable general,a man who saw it all, sacrificed for the unity of Nigeria is worth being celebrated says Comrade Salihu Dantata Mahmud, the secretary general of the Arewa youths for peace and security.
General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida former Biafran civil war veteran,former chief of Army staff,former head of state and military President is one year plus today.
“The group joins him to celebrate in recognition of gallantry and valuable contribution to nationbuilding.
As you celebrate your birthday sir,we pray for Longlife and sound health for you. Your era as military President experimented return to democracy even though short lived.
” The election of civilian Governors under your watch that made you get the title of military President cannot be erased. We had the likes of late Dr Musa Inuwa as elected Governor of Niger state,late Michael Otedola as Executive Governor of Lagos state,late Kolapo ishola,Rev father Moses Adasu,late Saleh Michika as governors of Oyo,Benue and Adamawa states as well as Clement Ebri,Akpan Isemin and Rufus Ada George as governors of Cross River,Akwa ibom and Rivers states and host of others.
“Even though,the Armed forces ruling council annulled the Presidential election,the nation still forged ahead. Nigerian history is incomplete without you.”
The group commended him for establishing the Federal road safety corp that created employment ,agricultural development projects, MAMSER, now NOA and moved the seat of capital from Lagos to Abuja.
“God bless your accomplishments and happy belated birthday the peoples general. Your contribution to peace in Liberia through support for creation of ECOMOG cannot be forgotten”, he said.
