Bauchi State Government has reconstituted the Governing Council of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), appointing esteemed educationist Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi as Chairperson.
Governor Bala Mohammed approved the reconstitution of SAZU’s Governing Council.
This decision underscores the administration’s commitment to revitalizing the institution for improved governance and sustainable development.
Professor Abdullahi, a renowned chemist and administrator, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Her illustrious career includes serving as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja from 1999 to 2004 and as Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation. She is also recognized for her contributions to science and education in Nigeria.
Other appointed members of the reconstituted Governing Council include Alhaji Suleiman G. Abdulkadir, Professor Isa Yashi, Professor Sabo Hamma, Professor Mohammed Babangida, Comfort Audu, a representative from the Ministry of Higher Education, and a representative from the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
Governor Mohammed urged the new council to collaborate closely with the university’s management and stakeholders to reposition SAZU as a center of excellence and innovation in tertiary education. He expressed confidence in the council’s ability to steer the university towards achieving its mission and vision.
The reconstitution of the Governing Council is part of broader efforts by the Bauchi State Government to address challenges within SAZU and to foster an environment conducive to academic excellence.
