Gloria, a devoted mother of one, had gone to her farm on Wednesday afternoon to gather vegetables for the market day on January 16. Tragically, she never returned home. Her lifeless body was found hours later in a pool of blood, attacked in what her family described as a “cold-blooded manner.”
“I still cannot believe she’s gone. Gloria was the light of our family,” said Mr. Peter Ajine, the grieving husband of 29-year-old Mrs. Gloria Peter Ajine, who was brutally murdered while harvesting vegetables on her farm in Ilewo Orile, Abeokuta North, Ogun State.
The family has called on law enforcement agencies in Ogun State to launch a full investigation into the murder and bring the perpetrators to justice. “I have lost my wife, my partner, and my best friend. Our son has lost his mother,” Peter cried. “We are calling on the government, on the police, and on everyone to help us find those who did this. Gloria’s life cannot end like this, without justice.”
Residents of Ilewo Orile have expressed shock over the incident, describing it as a rare and gruesome crime in their peaceful community. Neighbors who knew Gloria spoke of her kindness and diligence in providing for her family. “This is a tragedy,” said Mrs. Rukayat Oladimeji, a neighbor. “Gloria was always smiling, always working hard. We cannot believe someone would take her life like this.”
The Ogun State Police Command has been called upon to intensify their efforts in investigating the case and ensuring that the killers are brought to book.
The Human Rights Advocacy Watch Campaign and the All Nigerian Women League have also condemned the act, describing it as a heinous crime that underscores the alarming insecurity faced by vulnerable Nigerians, particularly women in rural areas.
