As Christians across Nigeria and the world mark the Easter celebration, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has extended warm greetings to members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), commending their courage, resilience, and dedication to national service.
In a statement signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, the Defence Chief encouraged troops to reflect on the deeper meaning of Easter while renewing their commitment to peace, professionalism, and unity.
“As we mark the celebration of Easter, I extend my heartfelt greetings to each and every one of you—those at home, on duty, and in various theatres of operations across the country and beyond”.
Describing Easter as a season of “reflection and renewal,” General Musa said the commemoration of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection offers a profound message of hope, courage, and triumph over adversity principles he believes resonate deeply with the mission of the Armed Forces.
“It reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice made by our Lord Jesus Christ, and His resurrection which brings hope to all of humanity. This is a message especially significant to the members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he added.
The CDS praised the AFN for embodying the values of selflessness and patriotism, often at great personal cost.
“Every day, members of the AFN show the same spirit of selfless service through dedication to duty, loyalty to Nigeria, and unrelenting commitment to national security. Your sacrifices are not unnoticed; you remain the bedrock of the nation’s stability and unity.”
He paid tribute to fallen heroes and wounded soldiers, calling for their eternal remembrance and swift recovery.
“This Easter, let us remember our fallen comrades men and women who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. May their memories remain eternal, and their service never be forgotten. We also pray for the quick recovery of those wounded in action.”
