The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said the body has recorded fewer fatalities as fewer people are dying from cholera.
The Director-General of NCDC, Dr Jide Idris, made the disclosure on Friday in Lagos on the sidelines of an event to unveil the Integrated Disease Testing and Surveillance Laboratory in Lagos.
Idris, however, revealed that more cases were being detected from other states with lower fatalities due to increased awareness of the outbreak of cholera in the country.
He said: “We are recording fewer fatalities because of the ongoing awareness about the disease.
“We are recording fewer fatalities, which indicates that fewer people are dying from cholera.
“Over time, with the increased awareness at the federal, state, and local government levels, we expect a downward trend of cases in the next couple of weeks.”
