The Church of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Kubwa, Abuja, has charged Fathers to take responsibilities in the family and society seriously , as they are leaders and defender of the home.
The Chairman of the 2023 Father’s Day celebration at Church of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Kubwa, Mr Francis Bobai , gave the charge while speaking with the press during the Catholic Father’s day Celebration in Abuja.
He noted that fathers are mentors to the family as they are in charge of reshaping the future of the kids.
In his words he said; “The theme of this year’s Father’s Day Celebration is ‘Effective Management for Organisational Achievement’, we look at homes that are not up and doing and we call on the fathers to be responsible.”
“Being responsible means that you are going to be the peace of the home, you are going to be the provider, you are going to be the defender, you are going to reshape your children’s traits and personalities, you are father of destinies so you have to lead by example because children lead be imitation.
“So, in this celebration, we call on all the fathers to be very responsible and to be efficient in providing the needs of their homes”, Bobai added.
The Parish Priest, Church of the Annunciation, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Edache, in his sermon, urged fathers to always exhibit actions that are worthy of emulation in all their conduct and behavioural pattern for a better society.
He stressed that any society with a complete family is always devoid of criminalities and a blessing to the nation, enhancing developmentt.
He expressed worry over fathers who neglect their paternal roles and responsibilities.
He implored fathers to always show love and provide for their families.
The Chairman of the Catholic Men Organization of the church, Mr Ambrose Onyeachonam, pleaded with fathers to stand against every form of abuse against their wives and children.
“We want to raise children in a godly atmosphere. We are encouraging fathers to bring up their children in the fear of God to enable them become responsible citizens of the country
“Fathers should start cultivating closeness to the children by applying discipline with love, while making sure that a child clearly understood why he or she is being scolded. The present day children is no longer attuned to the authoritarian stand of some fathers, especially when they want to assert their authority as a man without any cause for it,“
“They should return home and strive to understand their homes as well as the individual differences in their children, which makes them unique from one another in terms of characters and view-points.“ He concluded.
