Controversy trails acting customs CG’s age

The Acting Controller General of Customs Wale Adeniyi, finished his secondary school in 1979 which is 44 years ago then how old is he now? This is the question from the Global information team whose head of investigation,Anabel crown made known to the general public. Anabel emphasised that investigations made pointed to the fact that Mr Adeniyi is 65 years old now and ought to have retired. His action is against public service rules of Nigeria that stipulated sixty years of retirement on age grounds and thirty five years to serve in public service before retirement.
The group is therefore calling on Mr President to immediately relieve the customs CG of his appointment and appoint the appropriate person in the interest of the nation and the government stance on the fight against corruption. For a service head of a sensitive security and revenue generating organisation like customs to have an head with questionable declaration of age calls for concern hence this call. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should please remove the customs boss because he can dent the image of the government.
“There has been insinuations about age falsification at the part of top government functionaries to remain in office. It is a very simple question the customs acting Controller General must answer.
” We are in digital age where nothing is hidden. Like we emphasised earlier, he finished his secondary school in 1979, how old was he then? At the conclusion of university, how old was he? How old was he when joined the customs? And when was he born? And how old is he now? Nigerians want to know.
“It is alleged that he was not the most qualified person to head the custom having attained the rank of a Deputy Controller General whose mates have long retired. Stagnancy in service agencies like customs deprived other promising officers from getting elevation to their next ranks.
” When the customs, immigration and prisons service board was active, promotions were constant without fear or favour but with the movement of the customs to the Finance ministry things changed.
It is also alleged that the CG had worked in Nigeria Railway corporation before joining the Customs. If this is true, adding the years he worked in NRC before joining customs it means he has spent more than thirty five years in service.
