A Magistrate Court has ordered the detention of two individuals, Adebowale Adegboye and Idowu Akinseye, who are accused of perpetrating horrific sexual crimes against a 10-year-old girl Akure, Ondo State.

Disturbingly, Adegboye is identified as the biological father of the victim, while Akinseye serves as her stepfather.

The court heard allegations that both men engaged in sexual acts with the girl at different times, leading to their arrest by local police. The situation escalated further with the involvement of a medical professional, Israel Ojo, who is accused of performing an illegal abortion on the young victim.

In a detailed charge sheet, the father and the medical doctor face serious charges related to incest and the unlawful procurement of an abortion, violations of the Criminal Code of Ondo State. The charges against Adegboye outline multiple counts, including incestuous acts against his own daughter, actions that have sparked outrage in the region.

Akinseye is specifically accused of indecently assaulting the child, subjecting her to invasive acts without consent. This serious allegation has placed a spotlight on the case, raising concerns about the safety of children in domestic settings.

During the proceedings, Magistrate Grace Alphonso ordered that all three defendants be remanded in custody while the court awaits legal guidance from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions regarding how to proceed. The court has scheduled a follow-up hearing for May 22, 2025.

The community watches closely as the legal process unfolds, hoping for justice for the young victim and an opportunity to ensure such incidents are addressed with the seriousness they deserve.
