Commissioner of Police, Olubode Ojajuni, has been elected into the INTERPOL Africa Committee after a keenly contested election at the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced the development in a statement on Friday, noting that Nigeria secured the fifth seat on the committee with a two-year tenure.
According to the statement, Ojajuni’s victory underscores Nigeria’s growing inflence in tackling transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging security challenges.
“This achievement reflects Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters, particularly in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging threats.
” With CP Olubode’s election, Nigeria will continue to play a critical role in shaping regional and global policing strategies under the INTERPOL framework,” the statement reads.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, congratulated Ojajuni on the feat, describing it as a milestone that reinforces the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and international cooperation.
He further pledged continued collaboration with global partners to strengthen peace and security worldwide.
